NYX STAY MATTE BUT NOT FLAT FOUNDATION

Currently watching, Love is blind on Netflix - all I want to say is Gianina is ruthless lol. But, here I am with an overdue post. Finally ready to review the NYX stay matte but not flat foundation for my Roomies.

So let’s talk ...

About

Stay Matte but Not Flat Liquid Foundation (‘MBNF’) is said to provide full coverage with a mineral enriched matte finish. The oil-free and water-based formula is said to be perfect whether you are in the studio or out and about all day!

The MBNF comes in a see-through tube with a screw cap (no pump).

Why purchase?

I needed a drug store foundation that was oil free and gave off a matte finish. I did a bit of research and decided to purchase this foundation. I’ve had enough of consistently purchasing high end foundations like Nars, Fenty which is why I’ve been searching for affordable drug store products I’ll be able to recommend.

Application

At first applying this foundation was weird as I’m used to pumps and not a screw cap. But you get used the idea. The consistency is just about liquid and the texture is smooth. MBNF is said to be a “non-greasy” but after applying it does not end up being matte straight away. So, I let it set for about 60 secs until I add on my concealer. I will say, even though it’s not matte straight away - it does result into a matte finish.

After 5/6 hours it does start to get dewy, but you can never win when you have oily skin as most foundations tend to do this after a while.

The coverage is not full, but you can build it up to a medium coverage – full but it may just depend on how much product you apply. A little does go a long way with MBNF.

Shade Range

NYX MBNF seems to have a range of shades online but when I went to Superdrug – the medium to dark range was limited as I couldn’t see them all?

However, I was able to decide on a shade, Deep Rich. At first, I felt like it was a bit dark, but I realised that it oxidises with your skin – which is a win for me because nobody wants their face and neck not to match...

Pros

· Buildable coverage

· Affordable and has lasted me a few months

· Easily blendable with beauty blender (apply with a brush first)

· 35 ML which is a lot (more than Fenty, 32.ML + Nars, 30.ML)

· Cruelty free

Cons

· It does not give a complete matte finish

· Can transfer if not set properly

· Becomes dewy after 5-6 hours of wear

· Not fond of the smell

Overall, I do like MBNF foundation as it gives me enough full coverage to hide my blemishes. Even though it’s not completely mattifying – setting it with a powerder gets it matte and flat as possible.
